Wine Tourism and the Surrounding Areas

Combine the visit to the winery with various activities and excursions to Drama or Kavala Region, all rich with historic and religious landmarks, fascinating biodiversity and delightful local cuisine.

Wine tourism in the local community of Agora, located right next to the city of Drama, can be combined with excursions to a region rich in natural attractions and activities suitable for all ages. One such activity is a visit to the Birds of Prey Park, where both children and adults can enjoy unique experiences and observe eagles, falcons, and other birds up close.

In the city of Drama, explore the park of Agia Varvara, an idyllic area abundant in running waters, lakes, and waterfalls. Nearby are the famous tobacco warehouses, constructed between 1876 and 1925, marking the city’s economic growth during that period. There, you will also find the mansion of tobacco merchant Ioannis Anastasiadis – known as the “Marble House” – which has been restored and transformed into a cultural center by the non-profit civil company KYKLOPS. Stroll through the “Varosi” district to see the Arap Mosque and the city’s Byzantine walls. Do not miss the Archaeological Museum and the screenings of the International Short Film Festival.

Less than an hour’s drive away lies the stately city of Kavala, rich in history and attractions. Wander through the old town, its picturesque neighborhoods, and its bustling harbor. Climb to the Acropolis and admire the “Kamares” (arched aqueduct), the “Old Music” building (Halil Bey Mosque), and the impressive Imaret.

The archaeological site of Amphipolis, along with the Kasta Hill, the renowned Lion of Amphipolis, and the famous area of Philippi, are only a few kilometers away. Be sure to also visit the region’s celebrated monasteries, as well as natural landmarks such as the Cave of the Aggitis River and the Alistrati Cave.

For those passionate about adventure and the outdoors, the region of Drama offers a variety of exciting organized activities, from paragliding and rafting to flying fox and rock climbing. You can, of course, go hiking and mountain biking on your own. Mount Falakro, with its ski center, and Paranesti, with its pristine forest, are only a short drive away.
