HISTORY

LAND, WINE, ART – THE TRIPTYCH OF A TIMELESS VISION

IN 1987, WITH A DEEP BELIEF IN THE POTENTIAL OF THE MACEDONIAN LAND, THE FIRST FAMILY-OWNED WINERY WAS ESTABLISHED IN DRAMA, EVOLVING INTO WHAT IS NOW KNOWN AS NICO LAZARIDI.

WITH ROOTS IN TUSCANY AND THE LAND OF MACEDONIA, NORTHERN GREECE, NIKOS LAZARIDIS’ VISION WAS BUILT UPON A FAMILY PATH WITH A CLEAR GOAL: TO CREATE WINES WITH PERSONALITY, CHARACTER, AND LASTING VALUE.

MACKEDON WINERY

Among the distinctive terroirs of Drama, the Agora area stood out for its unique topography and microclimate. There, overlooking the Mounts Pangeon, Falakro, and Menoikio, the iconic Château Nico Lazaridi winery was established in 1997—today a landmark in the Greek wine scene.

In 2000, in a continued effort to harness the wider potential of the Macedonian region, NICO LAZARIDI founded its second winery, Mackedon, in Platanotopos, Kavala, at the foot of Mount Pangeon and the Symbolo mountain range.

Here, the winery produces wines bearing the designations P.G.I. Pangeon and P.G.I. Macedonia.

Driven by a constant pursuit of new expressions in wine, NICO LAZARIDI turned to one of Greece’s most renowned native grape variety, Xinomavro. For its vinification, the winery sources grapes from the two historic appellations, P.D.O. Amyndeon and P.D.O. Naoussa.
